Karen Jerram-Mason CBT & EMDR Therapist

Karen Jerram-Mason – CBT Therapist

I am a fully Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and an EMDR therapist. Throughout my career in Mental Health I have worked in a variety of settings, however my background is as a Registered Nurse, which dates back to 2003. Working as a Registered Nurse has provided me with an excellent grounding for the delivery of effective CBT treatment.

Aside from Private Practice I also work with a local charity in York as a CBT therapist. I have also worked extensively with the Military and front line services and I have extensive knowledge and treatment of working with many common mental health presentations including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I am a dedicated advocate for the reduction of stigma attached to mental health and I work hard to ensure that those seeking psychological support are made to feel comfortable, valued and listened to. I am a passionate and dedicated CBT therapist. I am also trained in other psychological approaches including Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).

As a CBT therapist I am aware that CBT is the most evidence based therapy for treating common psychological problems, however I am also aware that one approach does not fit all, therefore I specialise in providing the most effective evidence based treatment to support clients address their problems and this requires me helping the client to get to the root cause of the problem.
